Alyssa Monks
My First Photographer/Artist is Alyssa Monks and she is 37 from Ridgewood, New Jersey. What I like about Alyssa is that her Art isn't photography it is in fact paintings, what I like about her is that she uses filters such as glass, vinyl, water, and steam, to distort the body in her shallow painted spaces. Because of this these filters allow for large areas of abstract design which is what I would like to bring into my photography because it is a technique that wouldn't really be expected to be included within my work. When I was reading up on Alyssa I found that when she began painting the human body, that she was obsessed with it and needed to create as much realism as possible. So she chased realism until it began to unravel and deconstruct itself which is what I believe my photography should be about especially with Depression.
