Depression Editing

The first step I took in editing this photo is I wanted to crop the photo and eliminate any areas that I didn't want therefore once I had completed this step I could continue with editing the colours in the photo which was my aim.

Once I completed that stage I was able to edit the Vibrance which is similar to saturation but the colours are weakened in the edit so this allowed me to bring in the effect you can make out in the hand so that it can lead me onto the next bit of editing.

This is the outcome to this edit, I am really pleased with how it looks because it is really easy looking and minimalistic but it conveys a powerful message. However I would also like to see what other editing I could do to give it a rough look.

Now that I have finished the cropping and manipulating the photo I could then edit the colours to how I believed they would suit my Depression topic so I started off with editing the Tone of the overall image as this would allow me to see the parts that I could change with colour.

One of the final stages in the editing of this photo was adding the black and white effect and to do that I had to use one of Photoshop's filters and move the sliders to the extent I wanted the black and white to look.

To change my edited photo a bit more I decided that changing the sliders on the Black and White filter could help and it has its given the photo a real eerie effect and makes you think more into the matter.

This is the end product of the photo edit, just like the previous I am really happy with what I have succeeded because I have edited the rough look into it which I was going for as you can see because the hands give an effect that they are fading into the darkness and the only thing that's really left is 'Hope' which you could say is disappearing with the rest of the photo. All in all though as I mentioned in my introduction Photography in Depression can be quite touchy and I think this photo can explain it very well because the blackness in the photo I wanted to act like emptiness and it is like an infection spreading as you can see.
