Zach Schnepf Photo Analysis

Throughout all of my reasearch Zach is my favourite photographer and the reason for that is that the photos that he creates look beyond real.
Fairy Falls

The name of this photographer is Zach Schnepf and before this project I was unaware of his work and I’m pretty glad that I’ve come across him because his portfolios are so modern and inspirational which is the type of work I want to create. In regards of the photograph to the left it was taken at Fairy Falls, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. The photo includes many techniques one noticeable one of shooting it portrait and another one being long exposure. However unlike some of my other photographers his work doesn’t just include one or two techniques they include a vast amount.I find it quite hard to state that this photo has one focal point because it has so much detail and obviously thought behind it however if I was to conclude with one it would be the long exposure effect that the water gives. However many other parts play competition for the focal point like the moss in the bottom right or the rocks because of the detail and colour they are and then finally there are the trees that are in the top of the photo they are full of colour and you can see nearly each detail of the leavesThe photo almost gives off a HDR effect which I am definitely going to include in some of my photos because it can really save some of the detail that can be lost in some editing techniques and also it always creates a filter for the photo that always plays well with the contrast and brightness of the original photo. This photograph gives me a real feel of excitement and happiness which I think is done through the colours and modernism of the photograph, this is also a continuation through all of Zach’s work which is why he is an important candidate to consider when I go out to take my own photos. I also believe that because of the effect that he has put on the photo and the manual camera settings he has obviously used that his photos aren’t criticised to be a typical holiday shot which I need to stay well away from.Another feature of this photo that I like is how it all contrasts well together and by that I mean all the greens from the plants are all fresh and in focus and then we have the eye catching focal point of the water running down the mountain on the rocks. To conclude, I am very fond of Zach’s work because of the inch perfect detail and the creativity behind each shot which I believe is very important when being a photographer so for my work a lot of Zach’s portfolio and overall work is going to be taken into consideration.
