The first step in editing I took with this photo is the same as the others and that was to crop the photo, this way I could get a grip of the real focal point I wanted when looking to shoot the photo because it has allowed me to remove any unwanted areas/aspects in the photo that slightly affect the view of the focal point.

Next is once again to adjust the tone, as this photo is part of my rule of thirds section though I didn’t want to bring too much colour into the photo unlike the HDR section so I decided to keep all the primary colours that you can see but to just edit the tone so much that the structures contrast really well together.

The final part of the editing is my favourite and that is adjusting the vibrance and satiation because these two tools are the ones that make the biggest difference because when adjusting these two it bring much colour into the photo which links me back to adjusting the tone and finding the colour that I wanted to include so the colours that I established are now edited through the Vibrance and saturation , however you don’t want to adjust them too much because you can make the photo too unrealistic so as you can see above I adjusted the sliders to what I believe is the needs of my photo.

The next part was really important when I edited the photo because I had just edited the tone so if I adjusted the brightness or contrast too much I would lose all the colours I had just determined so in the screenshot you can see what I resulted in with the sliders. Ultimately though I wanted to bring the furthest building more in detail so I had to increase the contrast fully and slightly decrease the brightness so I could get the affect you see.

Rule of Three Editing

Within this section of my exam I am going to look at Rule of Thirds. Where I am going to use Artists work to create my own and ultimately lead me to create a final outcome.

This photo is another photo i took in New York on my GCSE trip, however this time it is fitting in with Rule of Thirds. This is photograph really appeals to me and I think it is down to the colours that are presented, they are very bright and bold which ultimately give good connotations so too that conclusion I hope that view continues with other viewers of my work.

The main focal point of this photo I believe to be the larger building because it is the biggest part of the frame but that isn’t to say nothing else in the frame is important because the smaller building also could be the focal point because it is very detailed and helps contrast and complement the bigger building behind it.

The detail within this picture makes the photo look a lot more professional and broad in terns of competing photos that I could of chose. The detail within the colours and building makes the photo a lot more professional as I said but also creates just a little more effect that attracts the eye a lot quicker which I can’t see happening if the photos colours weren’t edited in.

Lastly the reason why I chose this photo for Rule of thirds because a lot of the photos you will see on my next couple of pages is that the focal points are in the different grids which act as the rule of thirds but this time I’ve kept the focal point in the middle of the frame in such a way through editing that it is still as effective as a peculiar angle which I could of chose and not get the true beauty of the two buildings included. This type of work is also in tribute to Justin Minns work because his technique carries out a lot of the stuff I have just mentioned above.
