Beautiful Sunset

This is a prime example of Justin Minns work. The photo is of the First Light, Dovercourt, Essex. The photo has been taken portrait at a low angle which gives a dynamic effect which you can see amongst the sun setting sky and water reflexions. Also because of the low angle it makes the photo a lot more intriguing because it allows a lot more to be included in the photo. This photograph by Justin Minns has a focal point of the reflection from the water because it is the clearest part of the photo which why I am stating that it is this photos focal point however the other parts of the photo play a part in creating the focal point because they are all well contrasted into each other. The photo includes a lot of colour which is brought in from the sunset and the reflections which allows a lot of room for editing and justifying these colours which Justin has done really well by using what looks like a HDR effect to get the reflection and the sky contrast well together. Also the rule of thirds has been played well in this photo because Justin hasn’t just gone and shot the photo right in front of the First Light tower he has took the opportunity to stand further back and photograph the photo in a way that it makes it look different.Because of the colours and the details amongst them this photograph gives me a happy feeling which is supported by all the colours that are included which is also partly vindicated by the editing that has been done throughout the photo.Another element to this photo that I like is the way Justin has put a slight lens blur on the background and put the foreground of the photo being the sand and reflection in more focus because this gives the photo more characteristics. To close, I chose Justin Minns work as Artist research because I believe that he could really help improve my technique both taking photos and editing them because he does it all very well as you can see in the photo to the left. I also believe that his positioning when taking a photo is very good, in my opinion by taking the photo at obscure angles it really adds a lot of dynamic structure to the photo which Minns does really well.
