The Pillar of Salt
This is Photo I chose from Hubert Leszczynski portfolio. The photo is of The Pillar of Salt in Ireland. And quite similar to the photo I chose by Alex Wise it has been taken with a lot of creativity in mind. Because he has managed to use long exposure to photograph the movement of the sky and also the sea and to add to the effect he has edited it by making the photo black and white but even by him doing that it skill gives you a mixture of colours and you can start to imagine what the original photo may of looked like. This photograph unlike the other has a different main focal point which is The Pillar of Salt but once again that doesn’t justify the photo, the changing colour and movement of the sky also stands out which you could argue makes The Pillar of Salt stand out more as the focal point because of these ease and one tone of it. And another element to the photo it the grass as because he has used a long exposure it has also created slight movement within the grass. The black and white effect within this picture makes the photo look detailed in some way because there are only a few colours it allows the photo to show all the shadows and light which gives it a melancholy feel which in some way excites the photo but also the long exposure also gives a feel to the photo because it allows the colours to change and spread which isn’t capable on an automatic setting so much. This photograph gives me an overcast feel which continues through Hubert’s Black and White Portfolio. And because of that the photo instantly attracts yours attention because it is different to the norm which is why I chose this portfolio of Hubert’s because it’s the type of impact I want to create with my work.Another feature of this photo that I like is how the photo all contrasts well together and as I said it continues throughout all his work which is what I want to succeed so by using Hubert’s work as inspiration I believe I can achieve that.To finish off, looking at both Alex’s and Hubert’s different styles of long exposure it has verified that I want to test out long exposure. But now I have the two different styles I can also create a comparison between them both which can ultimately help me with my final outcome if I was to use long exposure as one of my elements.
