The Ocean is your Front Yard

This photo is a photo by David Hockney, even though it isn’t really related to Social Issues I believe I could possibly use his technique to take a shot for my topic of social issues. The photo has been edited very well and it is a very hard technique to do as you need to be able to contrast both layers of the photo enough for them both to be visible and also to smooth into each other.

This photographs main focal point is the woman smiling in the front of the frame because when we look at the photo out eye look straight at the multiple patterns and colours that is on the woman’s dress which then our eyes focus on the woman however because the photo is so well edited the woman seems to disappear into the water creating a silhouette effect which I really like about the photo because it gives it more depth and creativity.

The way the photo gives a dissolved effect I could really use to my advantage with my own creations because it allows that extra depth in photography and it could allow me to create a really gloomy eerie effect that could be related to certain social issues i.e. depression. This means that Hockney’s work will be valuable with this topic of social issues because I like all the work that he has created and I believe it will fit well within the subject matter.

Another aspect of this picture that I like as well as his others is the fact they look really creative in terms of using many different techniques from taking the photos to the editing that took place after the photos have been taken so this is another reason why I am so fond of his work.

In conclusion I have decided the David Hockney’s work is going to be remembered when taking my own photos because it gives a great effect and also the photo under the influence of Hockney can possibly tell many stories and especially linked into Social Issues and depression I want this to happen so that Is why I wanted to include David Hockney as one of my Social Issues Artist/photographer because all his photos have a lot of depth and can portray situations in many ways and with depression I think that is important.
