Tranquil Ocean

This is one of my favourite photographs from Alex Wise’s portfolio. The photo was shot in Howrah, Tasmania. The picture has been taken with a lot of creativity on mind. He hasn’t just took the photo for the sake of it he has used his camera to his advantage by adjusting his shutter speed setting and manually set up his camera so that he could get the effect you see to the left which gives off a real sense of beauty as you can see the sky changing colour and moving as well as the movement of the sea and again the changing of colour. This photograph therefore has a main focal point of the changing and moving points but it doesn’t just focus on the two elements as I just mentioned as there are little details that also stand out such as the rocks on the sea bed and the detail within the rock but ultimately the use of exposure gives a sense of movement which brings in connotations the opposite of tranquil which the sky also justifies. The Movement within this picture makes the photo look more than a simplistic photo that normally would be taken on automatic shutter speed and camera settings. The use of exposure creates the effect that the eye wouldn’t see without a delay which creates a very detailed effect. The surroundings to the exposure effect also play a key part because it plays in contrast which gives a content feel to the photo. This photograph gives me a strong feeling of courage towards Alex and also lively. The picture includes a lot of detail and colour and because of that it is why I am so keen on using Alex as one of my artists as well as using his techniques to create my own photography.Another aspect of this picture that I like is the fact that this and all of his other exposure photographs have been edited to an extent where they still look very realistic but also ultra-modern which also gets the viewer to judge the photo as a photograph rather than a painting. To conclude as I’ve mentioned a lot about the portfolio of pictures that I have chosen by Alex Wise it has inspired me to look at more in depth in exposure and ultimately it has inspired and encouraged me to like it into my chosen question of composition as it is a technique that can really produce something special if it is done right like Alex’s work therefore for part of my question I am going to look into Exposure and how I can experiment with my work.
